Dispute and takedown policy
Dispute and takedown policy
Effective: TO CONFIRM: effective date
The register is only useful if it is accurate. Anyone may ask us to review a listing, free of charge. We will never accept payment to publish, remove or change a listing.
1. Who may contest a listing
Any person or organisation, including:
- a person who controls an address shown in a listing;
- an exchange, bridge, wallet provider or other service whose address you believe has been listed in error;
- the issuer of a token; and
- any member of the public who believes a fact is wrong.
2. What you can ask for
- Correction of a specific fact that is inaccurate.
- Removal of an address that belongs to a known service or that has been wrongly associated with a deployment.
- Removal of a listing where the token is not counterfeit, for example because it is an official contract or does not imitate a stablecoin.
- Objection under data protection law to the processing of an address that you control.
- Legal complaints, such as a complaint that a listing is defamatory, which you can also send to TO CONFIRM: disputes email.
3. How to submit a request
Use our dispute form or write to TO CONFIRM: disputes email. Tell us:
- the listing concerned (its web address or the contract address);
- the specific fact you dispute;
- why it is wrong; and
- any evidence that supports your request, such as transaction links or public explorer labels.
If you say that you control an address, we may ask you to show this, for example by signing a message with that address. We will never ask you for a private key or seed phrase.
4. Timetable
"Business days" means Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays.
| Stage | Time limit |
|---|---|
| Acknowledgement | within 2 business days of receipt |
| Initial assessment | within 5 business days of receipt |
| Decision | within 15 business days of receipt |
If, at the initial assessment, there is credible evidence of an error, we suspend the listing while we complete our review. A suspended listing is removed from public view and from our sitemap.
If a request is complex, we may extend the decision deadline once, by up to 10 further business days. We will tell you the reason before the original deadline passes.
Urgent requests: if a listing shows a known service address, or wrongly shows information that could identify a person, write to TO CONFIRM: disputes email with "Urgent" in the subject line. We aim to act on urgent requests within one business day.
5. Who decides
Wherever possible, an analyst who did not approve the original listing carries out the review. The responsible person named on our About page approves every decision.
6. Outcomes
- Upheld: we correct or remove the information, or remove the listing.
- Partly upheld: we correct or remove part of the information.
- Not upheld: the listing remains. We explain our reasons and identify the on-chain records on which we rely.
- Withdrawn: you withdraw your request.
Where we correct a listing, the page shows the date of the correction.
7. Second review
If you disagree with our decision, you may ask for a second review within 20 business days, giving any new information. The responsible person named on our About page carries out the second review personally. The second review concludes our internal process. It does not affect any legal right you may have.
8. Records
We keep a record of each request, our decision and our reasons for 3 years from receipt, as described in our privacy policy.
